Medical Volunteers

Process

1.       A person wants to volunteer.  They go to the appropriate page on Pathfinders’ website.

2.       Pathfinders’ website has any introductory information the group wants to share with potential volunteers, and then a link/button to “Apply”, which takes them to the Wyoming State webpage for the Camporee event (camporee.wyo.gov).

3.       In addition to any general message about Wyoming, licensing, etc., state’s web page has tabs/links/buttons for “medical volunteers” to go to the camp/temporary license registration pages for the Wyoming Board of Medicine (physicians), Wyoming State Board of Nursing (APRNs, nurses, and CNAs) and Office of EMS (EMTs, etc.).

4.       Each of those licensing boards has short instructions and a brief form to collect required information, to be completed by the volunteer (or his/her representative)

5.       If a fee is required (Medicine), information and process are given to the applicant.

6.       When the fee is received, and any background check(s) completed, the licensing board notifies the volunteer/applicant of approval, time period of the license, and any other relevant information.

7.       Each licensing board maintains a list on its web page to allow camporee participants and their families to look up a health care volunteer to verify they are approved to be providing patient care in Wyoming.  Pathfinders’ web page may link to these sites if you wish.  (We can also work out a protocol for sending regular updates to the lists to Pathfinders in addition to accessibility on licensing board web pages).
